This is a real, working BuddyBar 6.3. Click a swatch and the code is on your clipboard. Hover a line between colors to see a group, and try Check or the eye.

v6.3 One Check button, a color-vision lens on BuddyBar, named groups, and palettes you can share as a link See what's new

Simple by Design

Click a color, it's copied. Everything else just keeps your palette tidy.

Live demo: pick a format, then click a swatch.

Click it, it's copied

Click any swatch and the code lands on your clipboard as HEX, RGB, HSL, a CSS variable named after the color, or a Tailwind class. You pick the default. Your last 8 copied colors stay one click away in the color editor.

Live demo: switch brands, hover a line to see its group, then share one.

One palette per brand, in named groups

Keep a palette for every brand, client, or project, and sort its colors into groups like Brand, Text, and Surfaces. Hand a palette over as a link or a file. No account needed, ever.

Live demo: this palette has problems. Fix them one at a time.

One Check button

Check runs every test at once and says, in plain words, the few things worth fixing: text that won't read, colors that look alike to someone with color blindness. Each one has a Fix, and every Fix leaves a receipt you can undo.

Live demo: pick a kind of color vision. Copying still copies the real color.

See it the way others do

About 1 in 12 men has color vision deficiency, according to the National Eye Institute. Pick a kind of color vision from the eye on BuddyBar and your whole palette redraws the way that person sees it, right where you work.

Drag anywhere

Park BuddyBar wherever it helps, or show and hide it with a keyboard shortcut, even system-wide on Mac and Windows.

Shade ladders

See 10 lighter-to-darker steps of any color and click the one you want. Instant tonal scales.

Eyedropper

Pick any color straight off your screen, in every version. In Chrome, you can also pull a whole page's main colors into a new palette.

Make a dark version

Generate a dark-background twin of any palette, with readability fixed automatically.

Share a palette as a link

The whole palette rides in the link itself, so nothing is uploaded. Whoever opens it sees the colors, and BuddyBar asks before adding them.

Lock what's final

Lock a color or a whole palette. A locked palette can't be renamed, regrouped, or recolored, and BuddyBar tells you which lock to open.

Connect your AI toolsMac

Let your AI coding assistants read your palette so you stop pasting hex codes into prompts. Ask your AI what your brand colors are, or tell it to use them, and it already knows.

Only show when you open it

Every page starts clean; BuddyBar appears only when you ask. Ideal for days spent reading decks, not editing them.

"Love this extension! My old work arounds for saving hex codes was pretty clunky and disorganized. Having the ability to make different templates for different projects is a huge convenience. Also its nice and clean. Thanks!"

Updating from an older version?

This is version 6.3. Already on 6.2? BuddyBar offers the update from inside the app. On Mac 5.0 or earlier, a bug blocked in-app updates — download this one manually and future updates work from within the app. Either way, your palettes are saved automatically.
